Alternative Keyboard Layouts & TwinNote Labs

A few months ago I created an interactive demo webpage that lets you try out various alternative, isomorphic keyboard layouts (Janko, Wicki-Hayden).  It was an experiment to see if it could be done using JavaScript and the new HTML5 <audio> tag, and it worked!  At least it worked in the better browsers.  It was inspired by Intuitive Instruments for Improvisers, particularly their interactive Janko keyboard page, which uses Adobe’s Flash.

Since then I have not had the time to work on it or turn it into something more polished, but I wanted to go ahead and share it with the world anyway. Unfortunately, there was no good place to put it, so I created a TwinNote Labs page for these kinds of experimental works-in-progress that do not yet have a place to be.

Have fun with it, and let me know what you think!
